About us

Our hotel is what we call a matter of the heart. With him, we have created a place in a prime location for people who are open to enjoying all the beautiful sides of life. A place where people know each other by name, ponder life over a fine glass of wine and time finds its very own rhythm.

Ines and Marco Biasi

The Biasi family welcomes you.

The Seehof was called "Adler" until 1873 and was an inn where shippers and carters, Sust workers, ship passengers and, after 1861, military personnel frequented at that time. In 1873, the owners at the time changed the name and called the inn "Seehof" from then on. In 1910, the brothers Giuseppe and Virgilio Biasi, who came from South Tyrol, bought the hotel. Virgilio was the great-grandfather of the current owner Marco Biasi-Sturzenbecher. Just one year later, the new owners expanded the Seehof for the first time: a part was added to the east side of the building, which made 60 more seats available. In 1928, Giuseppe sold his share in the Seehof to his brother, making him the sole owner of the hotel. In 1917, Virgilio married Margarethe Steinmann, who came from Walenstadt. The family was given three children, two boys and a girl. Because the eldest son Virgil had to do military service during the Second World War, the Seehof was not transferred to him until 1949. In 1958, the new owner successfully tried to buy land on the south side of the hotel from the local community of Walenstadt because he wanted to set up a garden restaurant on his own land. Over time, another construction problem arose: Since there were only eight rooms available for guests in the Seehof, something had to be done, finally the old building was almost completely demolished, and in 1977 the new Seehof, which had largely been given its present appearance by the new building, could be inaugurated. In the meantime, Virgil's only son Marco had successfully completed an apprenticeship as a chef and the Belvoir hotel management school in Zurich and had also married, so that the succession at Seehof seemed secure. But fate was brutal: Marco had a fatal accident in 1980, and the young widow Josy Biasi-Wachter was left alone with her two-year-old son, who had also been baptized Marco. But Josy defied fate: she took over the management of the house and turned the Seehof into the hotel that today enjoys an excellent reputation among locals and guests from all over the world. In the meantime, Marco Junior had also successfully completed the same training as his deceased father, and the senior partner Virgil was able to hand over the business to his grandson with a clear conscience. He also had a lucky hand in choosing his partner.

Ines Biasi-Sturzenbecher comes from Germany, learned the gastro tier from scratch and has been working at the Seehof since 2004. Marco and Ines ensure that the excellent image of the Seehof is preserved and expanded. They are now happy parents of three children, one girl, Kira, was born in 2012 and Max in 2014, followed by Mia in 2016 as the last girl.
